About the event
Join us for an unforgettable 10-mile circular walk through the Black Mountains, starting and finishing at the iconic ruins of Llanthony Priory, nestled in a remote valley just 30 minutes from Abergavenny.
This moderate-to-challenging route combines forests, moorland ridges, and hidden valleys, offering a rewarding summer adventure without being a full-on mountain trek.
We begin by following scenic woodland and valley trails, gradually skirting the higher moorland of the Black Mountains.
Our journey takes us to the ancient church of Cwmyoy, famous for its dramatic leaning tower, which tilts more than the Tower of Pisa! Inside, we’ll find an ancient stone cross, and here we’ll take a break to enjoy our packed lunches in this peaceful historic setting.
