About the event

Join us for a 7.5-mile circular walk exploring the stunning landscapes surrounding Llangorse Lake, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in the Brecon Beacons National Park. At this time of year, the lake’s shores come alive with wildflowers, including rare wild orchids, while dragonflies flit over the water’s edge.

Our journey begins beside the lake, passing through flower-filled meadows before stopping at a beautifully thatched bird hide, an ideal spot for wildlife watching. We’ll then visit the remote church at Llangasty, where traces of an ancient settlement whisper of history. From here, we gradually ascend onto a scenic bridleway skirting Mynydd Llangorse, offering spectacular views of the lake and the rolling Brecon Beacons beyond.

After a relaxed picnic lunch at a stunning viewpoint, we’ll descend through farmland and old green lanes, making our way to the village of Llangorse before finishing back by the lake, where a replica thatched Crannog stands as a reminder of the…
