About the event
A circular 5.5 mile route starting & finishing at the recenlty uncovered treasure of Snodhill Castle ruins, built, as many castles were, along what was thought to be the border of England & Wales in Saxon times. After visiting the castle, we then walk down and through the pretty village of Dorstone with it's lovely church and exgtremely old pub. Then it's up onto the impressive ridge which overlooks the golden valley, and has views of the black mountains beyond. There we find the awe-inspiring 'Arthur's Stone', which despite it's name, is actually 5000 years old, & recently featured on the BBC's programme 'Digging for Britain'!
A history-packed walk with great views. Hilly, but nothing extreme! We always walk at a steady pace with plenty of stops to look at those views.
